Localization and Mapping - Research Engineer My client was
founded by a team of what can only be described as veterans in the
autonomous driving space. They have looked to revolutionize the
industry. Currently with a mission in mind which delivers
stock/goods via fully autonomous vehicles, unlike anyone else. They
currently have an army of light and medium duty trucks, working
alongside other companies to establish the best outcomes for their
utilities. They---re currently targeting short haul B2B logistics
for retail companies, however the vision is endless. The ideal
candidate would share this vision. They are uncovering roles all
across the board, separate specialisations, fluctuation of
seniority, all now open due to supply and demand. Despite the
substantial growth, they keep, hold and breed the ---start up---
mentality. They want employees to enjoy their roles and feel like
they are making a difference. Led by a highly experienced team of
engineers and researchers with vast experience in developing
autonomous technologies, they provide both a service and a
philosophy: to optimize customers--- logistics operations to meet
consumer demand for real-time goods, while significantly reducing
costs and minimizing human intervention. Responsibility Build
state-of-the-art mapping pipelines that combine data from a wide
variety of sensors, as well as localization algorithms that make
use of these maps in real-time. Implement the prototype
localization algorithms in autonomous vehicles for onroad and
simulation tests. Investigate, tests and calibrate sensors for the
integration into sensor fusion algorithms Develop high-quality
software designs that allow for both high-performance and
maintainable software. Qualifications Master---s or Ph.D. degree in
Robotics, CS or related field Excellent software development skills
in C/C++ and/or Python Experience working on the full stack of a
robotics system Hands-on knowledge in 3D pose estimation using
point cloud registration techniques (e.g. ICP, NDT matching)
Real-world experience in implementing nonlinear Kalman filtering
and smoothing techniques (e.g. EKF, UKF, and RTS smoother) Hands-on
knowledge of data structures and algorithms for point cloud
processing, and are familiar with ROS and PCL Self-starter; the
ability to own projects with little oversight Bonus Points
Knowledge of SLAM, point cloud registration, GNSS/INS Experience
with Docker Knowledge and experience working with IMU, GPS, lidars,
radars, and camera sensor data 3 years industry work experience
Proven system integration and software architecture skills
Publications in your field (especially CVPR, ICCV, RSS, ICRA)
