JOB DESCRIPTION
The H.R Generalist assists the Human Resource Manager with the day to day operations of the H.R. Department ensuring excellent employee relations. Will perform H.R related activities/tasks and support our 24/7 operations. As a food plant; must adhere to all safety, food safety, and good manufacturing practices when entering facility.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist H.R Manager with the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department in a 24/7 operation facility.
Responsible for understanding Ventura Coastal's Company, H.R. programs and policies and government regulations as they relate to benefits, payroll and personnel to allow them to educate and answer any questions employees may have.
Responsible for maintaining accurate information and records for all employees. This includes changes in personal information, promotions, compensation, time-off requests, layoff/recalls and termination. All changes must be accurately input into the HRIS system.
Assist with H.R. function in employee reviews.
Organizes and maintains confidential Employee H.R. files and training files.
Assists the H.R. Manager with on-boarding of new team members including verifying I-9 documentation and completing E-Verify documentation and input, Ensures that all new hire paperwork has been completed by the employee and that they are issued ID badges, Proximity badges, PPE, etc.,
Assist Talent Manager with scheduling interviews for potential employment candidates and if later offered employment, conduct reference checks.
Interfaces with all Temporary Employee Agencies and maintains/tracks all Temporary Employee's timecards. Ensures that various Meal/Rest Break forms/waivers are completed in a timely/accurate manner and delivered to Payroll and Corporate H.R.
Maintain and prepare time and attendance records to ensure timely payroll. Coordinate the communication of the information to payroll and administer plant attendance points. Assists in putting employee schedules in to the HRIS platform.
Responsible for maintaining the Visalia Attendance Hotline and enters absences from the plant into an Excel spreadsheet
Ensures that all mandatory postings on bulletin boards are in compliance with all federal and local labor and employment laws.
Will represent the Visalia H.R. function in the absence of the H.R. Manager. May participate in confidential investigations and COVID-19 contact tracing and data entry.
Ensures that Personnel Requisitions, Requests for Temporary Employees, and paperwork is approved, completed and processed and maintains staffing report updates.
Serves as plant receptionist; orders supplies; manages petty cash records and reconciliation, manages company uniform program,
Reconcile petty cash fund at the end of the month.
Serves as overall office coordinator for incoming/outgoing mail; office equipment
Coordinates Company Events; weekend lunches, onsite celebrations. Holiday events, Kick Off Meeting, etc.
Follow all safety and GMP rules and practices. Participate as an active member of the plant safety committee.
Demonstrate reliable attendance, consistent punctuality and a conscientious attitude at all times.
Act professionally towards employees, customers, vendors and visitors.
Perform other duties as assigned and required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bilingual - (English/Spanish) is preferred. Good written and oral communication skills required in both languages.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate with tact and discretion.
Ability to adhere to the highest level of professionalism by demonstrating honesty, integrity and leadership. Extra effort is taken to improve knowledge and skills to be the best in the profession.
Good administrative and organizational skills.
Ability to work successfully in a team involvement environment is a must.
Ability to successfully work in fast paced environment.
Must be flexible and adapt to schedule change.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Products: Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint and large scale ERP applications a must.
Some college coursework in Human Resources completed.
Preferred: Two to five (2-5) years experience in the Human Resources field and / or payroll related experience.
Human Resources certification desirable.
