BenefitsDaily Range of Responsibilities of the COVID Testing RN:The
COVID-19 Event RN provides clinically competent delivery of quality
medical care services required during COVID-19 testing and vaccine
events. The RN is responsible for collecting specimens for COVID-19
testing and ensuring adherence to infection prevention and control
policy and procedures by all test sites staff members during
COVID-19 testing operations. Serves as the health care professional
for the site, advising the Event Operations Administrator (EOA) on
operational activities related to specimen collection, storage, and
infection prevention and control.
RNs working at vaccine events as a Vaccination Specialist are
responsible for safely and properly administering COVID-19 vaccine
to event attendees and for providing proper education about
potential adverse reactions. The Vaccination Specialist will also
be responsible for proper documentation of all vaccination
activities.
All on-site COVID-19 staff and contractors must be fully vaccinated
per CDC guidelines.
Essential Functions Include:
This role is patient facing and requires working in a
non-traditional clinical setting. It is also customer-facing with
high expectations for operational excellence, particularly for
maintaining strict infection prevention and control practices.
Event sites may be located inside or outside. The noise level is
moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious
diseases and blood-borne pathogens. Hours may vary based on
location, patient volume, and business needs. This list of

- Maintains compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulatory,
contractual, and organizational guidelines including HIPAA as
outlined in training and policies/procedures, quality assurance and

timely manner and utilizes resources appropriately while complying
with organizational standards
- Dedicated to building rapport with team members, internal and
external customers, and management team by demonstrating a strong
customer service orientation and a continuous positive

- Accountability to be punctual and abide by work schedule
Event Operations
- Completes all assigned required clinical training provided, on
time and completes competency/proficiency examination, as
scheduled
- Works with Provider Education representatives to ensure proper
data reporting as needed and attends clinical meetings
- Consistently models appropriate donning/ doffing and PPE
standards, maintaining social distancing from others on
site
- Monitors/guides site staff and attendee's activities/proximity
to ensure maintenance of social distancing in accordance with
infection prevention and control policy
- Assists clinical staff during the vaccination and testing
process
- Greets attendees and assists them in navigating through the
event
- Register's walk-ins and confirms appointments of
attendees
- Assists in the set up and take down of the site
- Works directly with the EOA and notifies the EOA with any
identified issues
- Provides support in medical response to attendees who have
medical needs while on the test site while waiting for emergency
response team
- During downtime, assists with other duties of the site
including administrative work
- Demonstrates agility to step into admin, greeter role at the
site when needed or any other duties as directed by the EOA or
Leadership
- Practices within mandated scope of licensure/certification in
the state of the event

Testing Events
- Understands that N95 Respirator Fit Testing is required to
function at testing events, events in which direct patient care,
such as monoclonal antibodies are administered, or other sites as
directed
- Instructs and supervises test attendees during collection to
ensure collection of an adequate specimen
- Ensures identity of test attendee matches test specimen
vial
- Collects COVID-19 specimens and maintains specimens in
appropriate storage container until courier collection of
specimens, maintaining strict compliance with infection prevention
and control processes
- Answers clinical questions related to COVID-19 asked by test
attendees
- Must be trained and competent in completing, logging, and
maintaining the rapid tests per policy
- Must abide the policy and procedures to compile with all
infection control, quality assurance, and lab protocols
Test to Treatment Events
- In addition to the Test Event responsibilities, accountable for
screening attendees who are symptomatic and positive for COVID-19,
for eligibility for antiviral treatment at Test to Treat
events
- Assesses, identifies, and overcomes barriers with eligible
attendees for treatment by assisting in obtaining required
information from attendee's pharmacy and/or provider to ensure
complete history is gathered
- Initiates/supports the attendee and telehealth provider
interaction to determine appropriate attendee treatment
- Dispenses the antiviral treatment to attendees as ordered by
the telehealth provider.
- Assists attendees to locate and contact alternate treatment
sites according to Telehealth provider's directive
- Ensures complete and timely documentation of eligible
attendee's screening/treatment notes
Vaccine Events
- Responsible for safe and proper handling and administration of
COVID-19 vaccine
- Adheres to manufacturer guidelines with little to no waste of
vaccine
- Monitors temperature of vaccine hourly, responds to any
temperature issues with vaccine on-site and reports any vaccine
issues to the EOA immediately
- Removes vaccine from freezer in a timely fashion to come to
room temperature
- Maintains awareness of Beyond Use Date (BUD) and times and
expiration dates of vaccines
- Prepares, mixes, and dilutes vaccine and appropriately labels
drawn doses
- Inspects vaccine vials and trays for leakage or
breakage
- Monitors the vaccine throughout the operation to ensure correct
temperatures are maintained
- Follows CDC guidance and policies for dry ice safety and
handling as well as vaccine dilution, storage, and
handling
- Provides proper receipt, storage, and handling of vaccines to
include cold chain management during normal business hours
- Works directly with the RN Event Oversight Administrator
(RNEOA) to ensure there is the right number of vaccines, and that
the vaccine is secured with cold chain managed on-site and is
managed at the end of the day appropriately for possible
transportation to a residence, if needed, for overnight storage.
Cold Chain Custody form must be completed for the Off-site Vaccine
Supervisor role
- Work with Provider Education representatives to ensure proper
data reporting: Beginning-of-Day Report, End-of-Day Report, Hourly
Temp Log, Vaccine Waste Log, Vaccine Inventory Log, and others as
needed
- Ensure an on-site vaccine inventory is maintained (accurately
and timely) and is signed off by On-site VS and RNEOA
- Alert the Command Center a minimum of two weeks prior to Beyond
Use Date (BUD) or Expiration Date of vaccine
- Acts as a vaccinator as needed
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of all vaccination
activities
- Follows proper aseptic technique in administering
vaccinations
- Educates patients regarding vaccination process and possible
adverse reactions
Monoclonal Antibody Treatment Events
- Responsible for safe handling and administration of Monoclonal
Antibody Treatment (mAb)
- Maintains the equipment, supplies, and storage of the mAb
inventory onsite
- Ensures attendee eligibility for mAb administration
- Skilled at safely establishing, preparing, administering,
maintaining, and monitoring intravenous lines/infusions
- Adheres to gathering baseline vital signs prior to and after
mAb administration
- Accurately and timely documentations of mAb
- Monitors, identifies, intervenes, and reports adverse reactions
related to mAb administration in accordance with policy
Mental Demands: Reading, writing, attention to detail,
confidentiality, problem-solving, ad hoc decision-making skills,
math skills, reasoning skills, oral communication, written
communication, customer contact, multiple concurrent tasks, stress
management skills, interpersonal skills
Physical Demands: Bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting,
lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs., handling (holding, grasping,
turning, or otherwise working with the hand or hands), fingering
(picking, pinching, fine manipulation), sitting, standing for long
periods of time, and walking. Seeing and hearing alarms and
settings during and after business hours and responding according
to training and procedures. Setting and resetting devices with
small knobs and handles. Working at outdoor events that have the
potential of exposure to extreme weather conditions

guidelines
Qualifications for the COVID Testing RN:
- Must have a valid and unrestricted professional RN
license
- Active CPR/BLS certification
- Previous experience within the last six months in administering
vaccinations if working on vaccination site
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working on a solutions-based team
- Excellent social and therapeutic communications skills
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control
measures
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills are
required
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is
required
- Strong IV and assessment skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 2+ years clinical experience in a health care delivery
system
