POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE Provides leadership for quality improvement and patient safety programs throughout Kaweah Delta Health Care District. Working in partnership with the Executive Team and Medical staff leadership, the CQO will provide the leadership necessary to achieve national best practice performance levels in quality and patient safety while implementing evidence based medicine/practices. QUALIFICATIONS License /Certification Required: Current M.D/D.O Board certified Education Required: Successful graduation from an accredited medical/osteopathic school and completion of an accredited residency program. Experience Required: Proven physician executive with a minimum of ten years clinical practice, five years executive leadership, and five years of quality improvement experience with demonstrable results. Experience and expertise in clinical quality improvement, process improvement, and patient safety in acute care hospitals and chronic care organizations. Experience in working with physicians from diverse backgrounds and perspectives in acute, ambulatory, chronic care, and preventive care environments. Preferred: Experience working in a large and complex academic medical center.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Expertise in clinical quality improvement (CQI), Lean, Toyota and/or Six Sigma methodologies. Expertise including, but not limited to, statistical analysis, epidemiology, emergency, and disaster management, care management, risk management, accreditation (TJC and NCQA) information systems, electronic medical records (inpatient and outpatient environments), CPOE, outcome measurement, severity adjustment, benchmarking and evidence based medicine. Demonstrated expertise to lead and implement quality improvement and patient safety initiatives with objective data. Must have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of evidence-based medicine and quality improvement tools and principles. Must model trust, teamwork, relationship management and coaching. Demonstrated success in leading the work of others and developing the talents and ability of others. Must support and demonstrate patient centered/patient value behaviors.
