MISSION / SUMMARY:
The Reliability Engineer role is designed to identify and manage
asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or
business operations. This primary role can be divided into three
areas: Loss Elimination, Risk Management and Life Cycle Asset
Management (LCAM). The Reliability Engineer plays a critical part
in long term planning for asset reliability improvement. This role
also directs a maintenance intern's projects and conducts midterm
and final evaluations. They will serve as the link between
maintenance technicians and middle / upper management. They
understand and align business operations and maintenance activities
as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and
align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational
objectives.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the
following.
- Works with Project Engineering to ensure the reliability and
maintainability of new and modified installations. The Reliability
Engineer is responsible for adhering to the Life Cycle Asset
Management (LCAM) process throughout the entire life cycle of new
assets.
- Participates in the development of design and installation
specifications along with commissioning plans. Participates in the
development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and
technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service
providers. Develops acceptance tests and inspection criteria.
- Participates in the final check out of new installations. This
includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure
adherence to functional specifications.
- Guides efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of
equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and
safety/security systems.
- Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops,
monitors and refines an Asset Maintenance Plan that includes:
- Value-added preventive maintenance tasks
- Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive
testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent
reliability problems
- Provides input to a Risk Management Plan that will anticipate
reliability-related, and non-reliability-related risks that could
adversely impact plant operation.
- Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all
other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These
problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance
issues. To fulfill this responsibility the Reliability Engineer
applies:
- Data analysis techniques that can include:
- Statistical Process Control
- Reliability modeling and prediction
- Fault Tree Analysis
- Weibull Tree Analysis
- Six Sigma (6--) Methodology
- Root-cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA)
- Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System
(FRACAS)
- Works with Production to perform analyses of assets including:
- Asset Utilization
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness
- Remaining useful life
- Other parameters that define operating condition, reliability
and costs of assets
- Provides technical support to production, maintenance
management and technical personnel.
- Applies value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign, and
make/buy decisions.
- Share an obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging

- Other duties as assigned. BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years of experience in maintenance and plant manufacturing.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
- Four-year degree required in engineering field- Mechanical,
industrial engineering.
- Compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu
of degree. SKILLS:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to lead cross functional teams, strategic planning, and
conflict management experience
- Highly skilled problem solver of manufacturing machinery and
equipment. Trained in process improvement (Lean, Six-Sigma, 5S, and
other discipline) highly preferred
- Read, and analyze charts, work-orders, production schedules,
and other records of reports to determine production requirements
and to evaluate current maintenance repair estimates and
outputs
- Experienced in developing training programs for Industrial
Maintenance Mechanics highly preferred
- Develop and interpret various problem solving
techniques/methods (TCC/ Trouble Cause Correction)
- Able to organize, planning, and prioritizing work and
communicate and update all stake holders internal or external
SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
- General schedule(s) are 8-hour shifts Monday - Friday with
rotating weekends off, however, employee must be willing to work
alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings,
nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
- Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding
or by rail. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to
8-hours.
- Occasional Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
- Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
