Job Title : Packaging/Engineer
Location : Sylmar, CA (Onsite)
Duration : 12+ Month (Extendable Contract)
This position is responsible for packaging development, testing and
qualification of new packaging materials & products of global
brands for our client
Programs will range from development, scaleup & commercialization
of Packaging for nutritional products. Effective ability to
collaborate across divisional and regional boundaries is critical
to be successful.
Complete performance & other testing in support of packaging
commodities using a wide array of test instrumentation
Follow procedures & protocols for lab engagements for calibration,
testing, analyzing and report generation for data application.
Collaborate internally with cross functional groups and externally
with suppliers for development of new packaging from concept
Conduct packaging qualifications trials, review and document
results & work with quality systems/management to specify and set
attributes & procedures for packaging commodities.
Support the packaging group in the development of the project
scope, design and cost estimates for global expansion programs
Education & Background:
Technical / Associates Degree in Packaging, Materials, Mechanical
Engineering or related field plus 1-4 years of industry-related
work or equivalent plant experience, with some knowledge of
laboratory testing. OR Bachelor's Degree with at least 1-2 years of
related industry or laboratory experience.
Ability to effectively interface with broad global cross-functional
teams & has demonstrated ability to make decisions
Ability to follow verbal instructions, recognize signs, follow
written directions, prepare technical reports, read and record
gauge and display readings from laboratory instruments.
Ability to follow safe laboratory practices. Physical requirements
for lifting and pushing 10-45 lbs. in addition to normal laboratory
work may be required. General mathematics knowledge.
Expanded statistical comprehension is desirable.
Effective oral and written communication with other packaging
technicians, packaging engineers, management, and other cross
functional groups with varying levels of education and experience.
Flexibility, adaptability, and personal accountability due to the
type and timing of the work involved. The position may require
travel to other Nutrition sites to support engineering studies.
Travel - 5% Attention to detail in following proper lab
methodologies and ensuring the proper functionality of lab
