Bioenergy LLC (CalBio) is one of the country's leading developers
of dairy digester projects. Our projects generate renewable natural
gas and electricity which is used as a vehicle fuel to power clean
trucks, buses, and cars. Founded in 2006, CalBio works closely with
local dairy farmers, the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the
California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), the
California Public Utility Commission (CPUC), the California Energy
Commission (CEC), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and
the dairy industry to develop projects that reduce greenhouse gases
(GHGs), protect local air and water quality, create local jobs, and
provide a new revenue stream along with other meaningful benefits
to its dairy partners. -Along with its affiliates, Midwest
Bioenergy, Northwest Bioenergy, and Southwest Bioenergy, CalBio is
undertaking the development, construction, ownership, and operation
of dozens of dairy digester projects across the country.POSITION
PURPOSECalBio is seeking an experienced analytical and data
management professional for the position of Senior Data Manager to
join CalBio's GHG Team. Reporting to the GHG Program Director and
under supervision of the Vice President of GHG Programs, the Senior
Data Manager's primary role is to manage, maintain, and streamline
the collection, processing, and analysis of data required for the
timely and successful generation of Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS)
credits and Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) RINs across CalBio's
portfolio of projects. The position offers the opportunity to work
with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and advance
professionally in a role that contributes to the transition to a
low-carbon economy.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCore
responsibilities include the following: --- - - - - - - - -Work
closely with other CalBio team members to collect, track, organize,
and analyze large data sets and documents required for reporting to
regulatory agencies for credit generation, grant reporting, etc.
--- - - - - - - - -Develop models and tools to improve and innovate
methods used to collect, process, and organize data and information
required for regulatory program requirements, business insights,
and forecasting --- - - - - - - - -Support the development of
quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes and perform
QA/QC checks to maintain the highest level of integrity, accuracy,
and transparency in GHG accounting practices --- - - - - - - -
-Problem-solve and troubleshoot errors, misreporting, incorrect
data, and other issues that may arise during pathway development
and/or verification process --- - - - - - - - -Prepare reports to
clearly communicate important performance metrics associated with
each digester project for the purpose of communicating to internal
and external stakeholders (e.g., gas production and quality, CI
scores, GHG emission reductions). --- - - - - - - - -Manage the
design, development, and implementation of a system that automates
and integrates data collection, standardization, analysis, and
visualization across CalBio's portfolio of projects --- - - - - - -
- -Coordinate and interface with other members across the CalBio
team (e.g., operations, construction and engineering, finance,
dairy relations) to define and improve reporting metrics and
processes --- - - - - - - - -Develop strong understanding of
relevant GHG accounting protocols for quantifying methane and other
GHG emissions from livestock operations and projects --- - - - - -
- - -Maintain the highest level of integrity, accuracy, and
transparency in GHG accounting practices --- - - - - - - - -Engage
with third-party verification bodies during validations/annual
verifications --- - - - - - - - -Participate in site visits with
dairy farmer partners, verifiers, and internal teamsAdditional
responsibilities include the following: --- - - - - - - - -
-Technical Regulatory Support: -The Senior Data Manager would be
expected to support the Vice President of GHG Programs and GHG
Program Director in the development of internal business metrics
and other analyses in response to evolving policies and
regulations, including California's LCFS, EPA's RFS, and other
programs. --- - - - - - - - - -Other: -CalBio is a growing company
where roles and responsibilities may evolve over time as needs
arise. The Senior Data Manager is expected to adapt when help is
needed in areas which are not described in this job description. As
knowledge and interests within the company develop, opportunities
will be given to pursue these further to the extent
possible.QUALIFICATIONS --- - - - - - - - -5+ years of professional
experience in database development, data management, quantitative
analysis, and data visualization. --- - - - - - - - -Bachelor's or
Master's degree in engineering, environmental science, computer
science, data science, finance, business, economics, or related
field is required. --- - - - - - - - -Advanced in MS Excel and
programming language(s), including experience with SQL, Python,
etc. --- - - - - - - - -Technical experience tracking
sustainability-related or operational project metrics (e.g., GHG
emissions, gas production, energy, wastewater) as well as
regulatory compliance recordkeeping is a plus. --- - - - - - - -
-Experience working in renewable energy, oil and gas, agriculture,
sustainability, or climate sectors in business, government, or
non-profit organizations. --- - - - - - - - -Exceptional
organizational skills and extraordinary attention to detail is
required. --- - - - - - - - -Excellent verbal and written
communication skills, with the ability to synthesize and interpret
technical information for various audiences. --- - - - - - - -
-Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a
collaborative team environment. --- - - - - - - - -Demonstrated
ability to manage workload and priorities with minimal supervision.
- --- - - - - - - - -Familiarity with or interest in the energy
and/or dairy livestock sectors. --- - - - - - - - -Proficiency in
Windows-based applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel) on a PC
required. --- - - - - - - - -Valid driver's license and ability to
operate a motor vehicle in California is required. --- - - - - - -
- -Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.WORKING CONDITIONSThe
position will ideally be based in our Costa Mesa, Bakersfield, or
Visalia, CA offices, with an option to work remotely as
needed.Periodic site visits will be required in industrial and
agricultural environments, primarily outdoors in the central valley
of California. Temperatures range from 30 deg F in the winter to
115 deg F in the summer. Limited exposure to hazardous materials
and/or toxic fumes will require the use of approved personal
protective equipment. Exposure to heat, noise, flammable materials,
rotating equipment, and other conditions normally encountered in an
industrial environment should be expected. California Bioenergy
will ensure all applicable work rules and safety requirements are
