Job Description:
OPPORTUNITY Green Dot is growing. We opened a new region in
Texas this year and plan to continue growing regionally and
nationally over the next 5 years. This role is an opportunity for a
passionate Accountant to learn and grow alongside us. Green Dot
National is a mid-sized organization, processing revenue from
public grants, bonds, and philanthropy for 6 separate entities and
60 cost centers in 3 states. We also build and own many of our
school buildings, which adds a real estate development component to
our accounting work. The Accounting team plays a key role in the
organization. You will report to the Assistant Controller and be
joining a 5-person team that is a part of a highly collaborative
27-person Finance and Accounting department. We are looking for
candidates with strong foundational accounting skills. Our team
will provide training for you to become an expert in school
accounting. Your work will be critical to informing
decision-making, facilitating oversight and compliance, and
training school-based staff. Location : This role is currently
remote, with the option to work from our Downtown Los Angeles
office, if you prefer. However, relative proximity to the Los
Angeles metro area is preferred (i.e. within 2 hours driving
distance). We are only able to hire staff who are residents of
California when they start the role. Benefits include: Medical,

(EAP) ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare bank entries to support a
cluster of schools and regional offices, including weekly deposits
Prepare journal entries to record revenue and expense accruals
Prepare invoices for accounts receivable and see through collection
Guarantee successful and timely month-end close by meeting daily
deadlines Analyze financial data, trends, and budget vs. actuals
Review transaction reports and financials and discuss with
Accounting and Finance teams Prepare schedules and organize
documentation in preparation for audit visits Build relationships
with school site and central office staff Contribute to the
development of a strong Finance & Accounting department that
reflects operational best practices Special projects and other
duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Experience A Bachelor---s degree
in Accounting, have completed significant coursework in Accounting,
or have 1-3 years of Accounting work experience Strong Microsoft
Excel skills (Pivot, VLookup, Index/Match, etc.) Need to pass a TB
test and Dept. of Justice background check at time of offer A plus:
Being a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or on-track for the
certification Experience in education, non-profits, and/or
